Courtroom Accessibility
If you need an interpreter for a court case your are involved in, it is your responsibility to inform the court in advance. You should recommend the licensed interpreter of your choice if you have a preference.
Contact the Judge that is scheduled to hear your case and inform him/her of your need for a licensed interpreter. If you cannot reach the Judge, contact the Circuit Court Clerk and make the request. If you are unable to reach either of them, call the Administrative Office of the Courts at 1-800-928-2350 (V) and ask for the Court Interpreter Services Division. These offices will make arrangements to schedule an interpreter. The American Judicial System and our legal processes are often misunderstood by citizens.
